Day of the Little Candles (“Dia de las Velitas”)

The Day of the Little Candles (“Dia de las Velitas”) is a festival deeply rooted in Colombian tradition; taking place every year on December 7 on the eve of the Immaculate Conception. It marks the beginning of the Christmas celebrations. The Day of the Little Candles represents unity, tradition, and the essence of Christmas festivities, where the light of the candles gladdens hearts, and traditions keep the magic of Christmas alive. Each person lights a candle as a way of making a wish for the upcoming year but also expressing gratitude. We will host traditional Christmas music, potluck, and share with people, families and kids. All people in Victoria are welcome to join this magical celebration.
