THE EVENT

VicFest: Celebrate Victoria is a free, public Victoria Day celebration in Centennial Square put on by Dopa, IMM, and DVBA. It brings together local businesses, food trucks, and the downtown community for an afternoon of movement, discovery, and celebration.

The event is the grand finale of Unlock Victoria, a two-week city-wide walking challenge (May 4–18) powered by the free Dopa app. Hundreds of participants will have been exploring downtown businesses for two weeks before event day — VicFest is where it all comes together.

 

Event day features:

  • Live wellness activations and demos from local businesses
  • Curated food truck lineup
  • Leaderboard reveal and raffle prizes from the Unlock Victoria challenge
  • Launch of the Dopa Passport — discounts from 20+ downtown businesses
  • Vic Quest — a paid photo challenge race (details below)
  • Music, community energy, and 300–500+ expected attendees
  • 100% of Vic Quest entry fees go to prizes and a local cause

VIC QUEST — THE DAY-OF CHALLENGE

Vic Quest is a paid photo challenge race running during VicFest. Think Amazing Race meets downtown Victoria. It’s the centrepiece of the event and the primary engagement driver for sponsors.

 

How It Works:

  1. Sign up. Participants pay $25 to enter and form teams of 2–4.
  2. Get your quest card. Each team gets a quest card in the Dopa app listing all sponsor checkpoints.
  3. Visit and snap. Teams visit sponsor booths at their own pace between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. At each booth, the business sets a photo prompt — strike a pose, try a demo, complete a mini challenge. The participant takes the photo through the Dopa app and earns their points. No rushing — just complete all checkpoints before 1:30.
  4. The final clue drops. At exactly 1:30 PM, every qualifying team receives the final clue simultaneously — a riddle pointing to a hidden Dopa marker in the square. First team to find it and photograph it wins.
  5. Share your recap. The app generates a personal photo collage of every checkpoint — the participant’s Vic Quest Recap. Post to Instagram tagging @playdopa and #VicQuest for social prizes.

 

Prizes:

  • 50% of all entry fees go to prizes — $500 guaranteed for the winner, remainder to runners-up
  • 50% of all entry fees donated to a local cause
  • Best Photo and Best Collage prizes from local business partners
  • 100% of every entry fee goes to prizes and charity
