Join us for a delightful four-course meal at the hidden gem, ‘Bar Poco’ (Tapa Bar’s sister restaurant), as we explore sorghum, a delicious ancient grain that brings climate-resilience to rural families in Zambia and around the world. This exquisite and intimate gathering will take place at 616 Trounce Alley in Victoria, BC, Canada, with two seatings available, one at 5 pm and another at 8 pm.
Savour the unique culinary creations crafted by Poco’s chef, drawing inspiration from the versatile sorghum. As we dine, we will explore sorghum’s ability to thrive amid drought and dry spells in Zambia as rural families face climate change. We will hear from AgRI, a registered charity that supports Zambian farmers who benefit from farming this amazing crop.
AgRI has supported 600 farmers to grow sorghum, over 95% of them have said they want to continue growing it and during drought 82% said that they became more food secure. AgRI is expanding to three new districts this season in preparation for scaling to over 5,000 farmers from 2024-27.
