Speaker Afternoon: The Caffire Boys: Delinquents Along Victoria’s Waterfront

June 30 @ 2:00 pm3:30 pm

included in admission

This is a drop-in program that is included in the price of admission; no registration is necessary.

In the early 1890’s Victoria was a busy port city with a growing population and, unfortunately, a growing problem of juvenile delinquency. Symbolic of this problem were the Caffire brothers who drifted around the waterfront and town, stealing whatever they could. When captured and sentenced they escaped justice and gained a small degree of international fame.

The formal talk portion of this program begins at 2:00 PM, with the speaker remaining in the gallery for further questions and conversation until 3:00 PM.

About the Speaker
