January 25 @ 7:00 pm10:00 pm

Welcome to Thursdays together! A community-centered initiative providing an inclusive space for artists, musicians, and creatives from all walks of life to meet, collaborate, and share their talents.
This weeks event -> Rhythm and Rhyme Open Jam Night
Victoria BC Ska and Reggae Society presents:
Rhythm and Rhyme, Back for the first time in almost 7 years. Our goal is to entertain, educate and unite audiences nationally and internationally through the artistic development of ska, reggae and other Jamaican rooted genres such as rocksteady, dub and dancehall, hip hop, Latin music, soul, jazz and world beat. We’ll be inviting musicians to partake in a wild mashup of all these genres and more with the intention of further developing the Victoria music scene.
Hosting the evening will be everyone’s favorite psychedelic jungle funk band Apex Breaks. apexbreaks.ca This 8 piece band is no stranger to open jams having hosted the 2022 international dub jam at Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival. They will be happy to mix and match with players from around the city and may even be convinced to play a couple songs from their latest album.
Some more details:
– All instruments are welcome
– The earlier you arrive the better your chance of playing. If you arrive late (after 9) you may be disappointed and not get to jam due to the sign-up being full.
– Stage times will be limited as we have to accommodate everyone.
– A call sheet will be used and backline will be provided. Sign up with the instrument you’re interested in when you arrive.
– Experimenting is encouraged, just keep it simple enough for other musicians to partake easily.
