SUMMARY:HERE & THERE: Paintings by Martin Osberg
DESCRIPTION:A collection of Martin Osberg’s painted compositions\, in oil and acrylic\, inspired by the land\, sea and architecture of the Southern Gulf Islands\, Portugal and Spain. \nShow runs February 17 – March 8\nTuesday to Sunday 11 am to 5 pm \nOpening Reception Thursday\, February 19\, 6-8 pm \nMartin Osberg has been painting for over 30 years. The most significant influences on his style have been the land and sea around Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands\, and the interesting play of light and shadow on buildings in Portugal and Spain. The series “Impressions of Iberia” started during a one month painting retreat in Portugal in 2017 and has continued to develop up to the present. \nThe painted compositions included in HERE and THERE showcase these two distinct influences and include works in oil and acrylic on canvas\, linen\, wood panels and archival oil paper mounted on wood panels. \nMartin Osberg has a studio above the Gage Gallery and will be in his studio painting for the duration of the show. Visitors to the gallery are invited to come up to his studio to meet and discuss his approach to painting.

SUMMARY:Gordon Clements Trio in the Fathom Lounge
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the lounge for smooth jazz performances by talented local musicians or lively DJ sets that blend modern vibes with classic grooves. Sip on expertly crafted cocktails\, explore our extensive whisky selection featuring over 200 premium choices\, or relax with a glass of locally curated wine as you enjoy the music in an upscale\, welcoming atmosphere. \nNO COVER | NO RESERVATIONS \nA classical and jazz performer on clarinet\, saxophone\, and flute\, Mr. Clements has also enjoyed a long career as a conductor\, composer\, educator and clinician. He was founding director of jazz programs at the University of Victoria\, Camosun College and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. In 2018 he retired as Senior School Director of Concert and Jazz Bands at St. Michaels University School. He has performed on numerous recordings and released eight of his own on the international market. He has shared the stage as a jazz soloist with many of Canada’s top musicians. In classical performance\, Mr. Clements is well known for his bass clarinet and saxophone work with the Victoria Symphony. He has been a clinician for Keilwerth Saxophones and Buffet Crampon Clarinets and in 2009 was inducted into the Victoria Music Hall of Fame.
