SUMMARY:آبِ رواں Aab-e-Ravaan: Language Like Water
DESCRIPTION:May 2 to August 1\, 2026 \nLegacy Downtown | 630 Yates St.\nLekwungen Territory \nآبِ رواں Aab-e-Ravaan: Language Like Water explores the artistic practice of Farheen Haq\, an interdisciplinary artist born into an immigrant family with roots in Bihar\, India\, and Karachi\, Pakistan\, she now lives and works on lək̓ʷəŋən territory (Victoria\, BC). Through her work\, Haq returns to her parents’ experience and ancestral lands\, drawing on the Urdu poetry of Mirza Ghalib (1797–1869) as a source of connection\, memory\, and reflection. \nIn this exhibition\, Haq looks to water as a guide in relationship building and to understand the flows of migration; as well as tracing the fluidity of language through poetry. Her work moves like a ghazal\, where every droplet carries the meaning of reconnection. In آبِ رواں Aab-e-Ravaan\, Urdu becomes a living current\, flowing and shaping relationships. Like water\, it holds memory and connects seemingly distant lands and waters to the Salish Sea\, offering a space where identity remains in motion\, always shifting and creating new meanings. \nCurated by Anahita Ranjbar. \nThe opening celebration will take place on May 2\, 2026\, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. \n  \nImage: Farheen Haq\, Aankh Band ke Dekho (Close Your Eyes and See)\, 2022. SUMMARY:Let's Talk Live: Sunday Afternoon Conversation and Connection
DESCRIPTION:Every Sunday from 3-5pm at Heslaa Tea Room\, 636 Johnson st\, have meaningful conversations and create genuine connections\, free of charge. Drop-in\, 19+ welcome.  \nSunday was made for this. \nNo brunch plans? No agenda? Good. Come sit with us. \nEvery Sunday from 3PM–5PM at Heslaa Tea\, one of Victoria’s most beautiful\, calming spaces\, we’re holding room for something a little slower. A little softer. A little more human. \nFully self-guided with table talkers\, carefully chosen conversation prompt cards sitting at your table before you even walk through the door. No host\, no schedule\, no pressure to perform. Just a gentle starting point\, and then the conversation becomes completely your own. \nCome alone or bring someone. You’ll be paired one-on-one or in a small group (max 4) with people you wouldn’t have stumbled into on a regular Sunday afternoon. \nPicture this: \n-The smell of loose leaf tea and a table all to yourself \n– A conversation that actually makes you think \n– Connection that doesn’t feel forced or rushed \n– The slowest\, most restorative part of your whole week \n– Self-guided table talkers — show up\, sit down\, start talking \n– Heslaa Tea — 636 Johnson St\, Victoria BC \n– 100% free \n– 19+ welcome \n– Drop in anytime between 3PM–5PM \n– Stay for one cup or close the place down \nIf you’ve been looking for things to do in Victoria on a Sunday\, a way to meet people in Victoria BC without it feeling like a networking event\, or simply a reason to leave the house and feel something — this is your sign. \nThe best conversations you’ve ever had probably started with a warm drink and a stranger.  \nSee you Sunday
