SUMMARY:Democracy's Second Act: Book Signing with Richard Johnson
DESCRIPTION:Drop by Munro’s Books to meet Richard Johnson\, author of Democracy’s Second Act\, and get your copy signed! \nIn this book\, Johnson and co-author\, Peter MacLeod\, state that democracy isn’t broken – it’s stuck. As it fails to evolve\, people become angry\, polarized\, and feel a general sense of political futility. To give readers hope\, this book offers a clear-eyed vision for what comes next. Drawing on groundbreaking citizens’ assemblies in Ireland\, Canada\, and France – as well as democratic innovations from more than a dozen countries – they show how we can build on the legacy of the first act by creating new institutions that tap into the talents\, judgment\, and capabilities of ordinary people. They make the case that the public isn’t a risk to be managed\, but a powerful resource ready to be harnessed and that the future depends on giving citizens real responsibility\, not just a periodic vote. \nWhat: Book Signing with Richard Johnson \nWhen: Saturday\, February 21st from 1:00-3:00pm \nWhere: Munro’s Books – 1108 Government St \nHow: Free to attend
