About Emily McIvor and New Wave Fibre

New Wave Fibre was founded by Emily McIvor and Jodi Schamburger as a way to make the most of the incredible wool from their fibre-producing flocks. United by a passion for ecologically sustainable textiles and a DIY approach to fashion, they set out to grow fibre, make clothes, and live creatively on their own terms.

Over the past five years, their journey has included deep hands-on experience in shepherding and collaboration with Canadian mills and manufacturers. Today, under Emily’s creative leadership and with Jodi still closely involved, New Wave Fibre sources, pools, and processes wool from farms across the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. The result is a broad selection of breed-specific yarns, rovings, and raw and washed fleece for fibre artists throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Emily is also a founding board member of the Canadian Wool Collective, a grassroots, women-led nonprofit championing Canadian wool producers. Most recently, the Collective launched Canada’s first wool certification program to trace and promote products made from Canadian-grown wool.
